What is meant by frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS)?
Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) is a means to spread the radio’s power over a portion of the frequency spectrum.  Frequency hopping literally means that the radio hops from one frequency to another in a pseudo random sequence of frequencies.  In eXRS, each sequence is composed of 50 different frequencies.  The radio hops from one to the next until it has sequenced through all 50 frequencies, whereupon it will repeat the sequence.  Frequency hopping makes it nearly impossible to listen in to a conversation.  Even if a scanner caught a frequency, the radio will hop to another after only a few tenths of a second, leaving the scanner behind.
